Catamaran Mariners – Potluck Dinner in February

The January meeting was cancelled due to the widespread illness of members.  The planning meeting has been rescheduled for February 13 with the usual delicious potluck dinner preceding.   Sign-ups begin this Sunday!

SHARE YOUR LOVE OF NEIGHBOR with acts of kindness with the help of the Mission Committee’s “Mustard Seed Board.” On Sundays after worship you can visit the board to see what is needed that you can help with. So that privacy is assured, the members of the committee will review offers of help with those in need. So if you need help getting to church, a medical visit, yard work, or many other tasks, check out the “Mustard Seed Board” on Sundays, call the church office, or email the church office at office@fpsd.org with your request for help.

Attention Faith Presbyterian Church Travelers – There will be a meeting on February 8, 2015 in Room 2 at 11:00 AM to explore travel options for 2016. Bring your ideas! If you can’t make the meeting, you can still share your ideas by contacting our travel master Ms. Elizabeth Van Boskirk through the church office at 619-582-8480.

It’s time to update the Church Directory for 2015. Working copies of the directory are available on Sundays in the patio area so you can add or update your changes to addresses, phones, and emails. You may also email your changes to the church office at office@fpsd.org.

Presbyterian Investment Loan Program (PILP) – This is a Presbyterian Church program that allows members of our church to invest their money in the program and obtain a personal return, provide for a return to our church building loan, and support loans to other Presbyterian churches throughout our nation. For more information on how you can be part of this program contact Mr. Stu Elder through the church office at 619-582-8480.

2015 Men’s Retreat – “The Influence of Fathers on Men’s Faith”

Our 2015 Men’s Retreat will be held, January 30 – February 1, 2015 at Pine Valley Bible Conference Center. (http://pinevalleybible.com).

Cost is $150.00 per person (double occupancy) – two nights lodging and 4 meals; $165.00 for private bathroom.

This Sunday is the last day to sign up.  Call the church office at (619) 582-8480 if you have any questions or if you would like to sign up.

We will form carpools as it get closer.

NEW BIBLE STUDY GROUP

A Bible Study Group is starting Thursday, January 29th, at 7:00 PM.

Everyone of any age is welcome to the Bible Study Group – college students, young adults, and the young at heart!

Our vision for the study group is to focusing on what the Word has to say to us in the 21st Century and how the Word reveals the character of God and what His message means to us individually.

Stop in and try us!

It is a time for sharing, learning, and growing.

The initial meeting will be in the Library section of Faith Family Center.  If you have questions, send an email to office@fpsd.org and a member of the College Ministry Committee will contact you!  Will we see you there?

 

Bible Study 3

Beacon Worship Service for the Spring Semester kicks off on Sunday

Our first Beacon Worship Service for the Spring Semester kicks off on Sunday, January 25th at 7:00 PM!!  Beacon is a contemporary service led by our favorite guitarist:  Clinton.   All are welcome – college students, young adults, and those young at heart!!!

For those interested in being part of the Beacon Worship Team, we are seeking volunteers for set-up, technical/sound, lighting, etc. – let us know by sending an email to the Church Office at office@fpsd.org and a member of the College Ministry Committee will contact you!

Adult Education this Sunday

This Sunday, January 18th, we will watch the 2nd series of 6 classes on Islam, using the Great Courses video series taught by Professor John L. Esposito of Georgetown University.   The topics this Sunday include: Mohammad-Prophet and Statesman, and God’s Word – the Quranic Worldview.   All are welcome.
