Koinonia Time

Beginning 12 Sept, every Wed night this year we’ll be gathering each week from 6-7:30 PM for Koinonia Time as a church family.  Koinonia is a Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible and means “fellowship, sharing in common, communion.” The first occurrence of koinonia is in Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Christian fellowship is a key aspect of the Christian life.  As believers in Christ, we have the special calling and privilege to come together in love, faith, and encouragement.  Penny Sartori has volunteered to head up preparing our weekly meal.  For those interested, please speak to her about assisting in this area of service for Christ.  We’ll have a basket out with a suggested donation of $5 per individual or $10 per family.  We’ll glorify God singing some songs, share in a time of study and discussion, and conclude in praying together.

The series of studies beginning in the evenings 12 Sept are exciting, relevant and useful in our walks with the Lord.  The first 5 weeks are on Rev John Ortberg’s studies The Me I Want to Be: Becoming God’s Best Version of YOU.  John is the senior Pastor of Menlo Church in the Bay Area, a classmate and friend of Pastor Gary’s from their days together at Wheaton College.  He says, “Redemption is always the redemption of creation.  God wants you to become a new creation.  But new doesn’t mean completely different; instead it’s like an old motorcycle that gets restored to its intended magnificence.  The good news is that as God redeems you and restores you, you become more you.  You become more that person God had in mind when he first thought you up.  God is not interested in mass-producing you, but rather handcrafting you to be his best version of you.”  These are the dates and topics we’ll be covering from this series:

                        12 Sept:  Discovering the Spirit

                        19 Sept: Renewing My Mind

                        26 Sept: Redeeming My Time

                        3 Oct:     Deepening My Relationships

                        10 Oct:   Transforming My Experience
