“On Sat, 17 June, the Elders, Deacons, Staff, and Mission Committee members joined together for training and collectively working toward the future. They studied and discussed the first of the Six Great Ends of the Church, the Proclamation of the Gospel, probing what the Gospel means to each of us and how we proclaim it. They were also led in a stimulating seminar of “Discovering Your Church’s Next Step” by Dr. Neal Nybo, the Executive Pastor of the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. The leadership of Faith Presbyterian Church is excited and prayerful about what God is doing in our midst and what God will be doing in coming days! Thanks be to God!”
Every December, the Military Outreach Ministries (M.O.M.) set up Christmas stores to benefit our San Diego military families. Children of enlisted military families are invited to come and select (shop) for a toy.
Please help them to stock on toys for children baby – 14 years old. We can only accept toys that are unwrapped. Bring unwrapped toys to church on Sundays or to the office, Monday – Friday during office hours (9:00 am – 4:00 pm). Last year, we served over 400 families and we hope to do more this year. A few SUGGESTIONS: Board Games, Balls, Action Figures, Dolls, Toy Cars/Trucks, and $10-$15 gift cards. We will host 4 “Toy Stores” and the first will be December 3rd.
Contact Carolyn Taxer through the church office at (619) 582-8480 if you have any questions or would like to volunteer. Inquiries can also be sent to our e-mail email@example.com.

Thank you for supporting the military families of San Diego!
To all college students and the community: We will be having our Hot Dog Stands, Friday, October 7 at 8:00pm, and Wednesday, October 19 at 11:00am. We look forward to meeting you. Come join us.
To the congregation: do you think of yourself as the “Bun Master” type? Are you more of a people person and are well-suited to be a “Greeter”? Perhaps you prefer to remain behind the scenes and donate baked goodies. Or would you prefer to be a “Roadie” and help set up the pavilion/tables/etc? There are loads of opportunities, so call the church office now at (619) 582-8480 and get the message to Sarah Scardino or Janet Sansom that you want to help.
SDSU students are already coming back into town and we are just two weeks away from the start of a new semester. College Ministry is always looking for more people to help with Hotdog Stands and other programs and to bring new ideas to the committee. If you are interested, our next meeting is this Tuesday, August 11 at 2:00pm. If you are unable to attend this meeting, but are still interested in helping out, please contact Sarah Scardino thru the church office, (619) 582-8480 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first late night Hotdog Stand for the upcoming semester will be on Friday, August 21st. Volunteers are needed. Also, the Intervarsity hosted 48-Hr Prayer Room is happening August 21, 22, and 23. The BEACON, our Sunday college gathering will start August 23 at 7:00pm. Faith Presbyterian Church will be hosting a BBQ to welcome our SDSU students prior to the BEACON on Sunday, August 30th. So there are many volunteer opportunities you can participate in. Thank you for your generosity and kindness to our SDSU neighbors.
The Military Outreach Ministry’s fund-raiser includes a “Luau” dinner and Hawaiian entertainment. This event will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 4324 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, 92117, August 28 at 6:30pm.
There will be live auction as well as a silent auction. If you don’t buy anything, there will be a chance to just donate any amount you can. Anyone can purchase a table for 8 which would be $160 and invite friends to come. Single ticket is $25.00.
We need help in making this event a success, so we can continue to help our enlisted military families. We need items to put in the auction baskets, such as soaps, lotions, candies (esp. chocolate), unused small baby items, cheeses, teas, coffees, nuts, gift certificates, sport tickets, fancy baked items, etc. We also need “bigger” items like a dinner for four, a cruise around the bay, a Time Share you aren’t going to use, an hour or two lesson that could be tennis, golf, music, surfing. What can you do to help?
If you need tickets or have any questions, please call Carolyn Taxer through the church office (619) 582-8480, or e-mail email@example.com
Next Sunday, May 10th, Presbyterian Urban Ministries (PUM) will receive food from the U.S. Postal Service’s Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. PUM will be needing volunteers to help with receiving and sorting of food. Can you help? Call (619) 232-2753 or send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
PUM is located at 2459 Market Street, San Diego, CA 92102. Please visit their website at http://www.pumsd.org for more information.
CHRIST IS RISEN
Jesus Christ Is risen today, Alleluia!
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Eternal God, we praise you that your glory has dawned on us, and brought us into this Day of Resurrection. We rejoice that the grave could not hold your Son, and that he has conquered death, risen to rule over all powers of this earth. We praise you that he summoned us into new life, to follow him with joy and gladness. By your Holy Spirit, lift us from doubt and despair, and set our feet in Christ’s holy way, that our lives may be signs of his life, and all we have may show forth his love. Praise, glory, and thanksgiving to you, our God, for ever and ever. Amen.
“The Day of Resurrection”
Words for Preparation
Jesus lay in death’s strong bands, for our offenses given; but now at God’s right hand he stands and brings us life from heaven; therefore let us joyful be and sing to God right thankfully loud songs of hallelujah. Martin Luther
CHRIST IS RISEN! CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED!
Prayer of Adoration
O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
